Wake them, I dare you.

It is I, Myn to @displacerghost and @setepenre-set, fite me  (ง •̀_•́)ง

I stole the background from Set here, and the idea/pose from Pinterest (don’t hate me). It’s not original but I’ve been feeling shitty and my tekels help me feel better. So take this shit post for the love it has – not the fact that I ‘did’ any of it OTL

!!!!

AAAAHHH FRIEND-VAIRA, I LOVE THIS!!!

I love the pose you chose for each of us, with you all excited and in the middle, and @displacerghost curled up so cute, and me sort of…slumped over with my mouth open LOL SO ACCURATE.

The outfit designs are all really cute, too; I love that Ghost’s and my outfit are so similar, except for color, but that they have different boots. (I especially love the boots that I’m wearing!) And! you drew Ghost with red accents and me with blue accents, and you with PURPLE accents, because you are OUR Mnyn!

Your robotic body is really cute; it’s lovely and streamlined, and looks really clean and futuristic, like it would operate really smoothly. The way you can see it glowing in places is an especially excellent detail. Your purple tail and fins make you look fancy and feminine, but also beta-fish-style ready to fight. (also I love that you look so excited about us sleeping…poor Mnyn; it is an ordeal getting us to sleep, isn’t it?)

I love that you used the Alte-re and Ivri-roh constellations for the background; it fits so well! And having us sitting on the moon is so cute; it makes the picture look really sweet and innocent and fun.

Very well done on making the M’ega versions of Ghost and I really look like us; even without hair, you’ve drawn them so well that I can automatically tell who is who!

Thank you SO MUCH for this, friend-Vaira; it is absolutely adorable and I LOVE it!!! ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤

@setepenre-set‘s Temptress fanart WIP

AAAHH I LOVE THIS!!

She looks like a femme fatale from the cover of a noir detective story! It’s so cool!

I love her pose; the line of her body falls in a graceful backwards S curve, from the direction of her tilted head to her popped hip to her bare thigh.

It’s a very sinuous, very sexy pose, and the way it’s so dramatic gives the piece a sense of danger—she’s poised right on the edge of movement. She is danger held just barely in check. And the upraised gun adds to that impression of potential danger ready to erupt—she’s not aiming the gun, not yet, but she holds the gun in readiness, her eyes narrowed and slanted in the direction of whatever it is she is deciding whether or not to shoot.

I love the way her earrings are swinging to the side; it’s such a great detail, and really adds to the sense of movement and precariousness.

She looks beautiful, too; her hair perfect, her expression gorgeously dangerous. And I really enjoy the style of her gown; it suits her body so well.

Thank you so much for this; I love it so much!

Look who found the perfect song for Temptress! Roxanne!

and to think it comes from Wander over Yonder XD

Ahhh she looks so good! I love her sexy/dangerous expression—her cruelly arched eyebrows, and her half-lidded eyes with the red eyeshadow, and the way her mouth curls up at the corners! And her very sassy popped hip!

I really like her outfit, too, the red boots and leotard, and the way the cape goes from black to red and frames her bare shoulders.

The lyrics also pair very well with the series of images. And the slow reveal of her is really well done and very sexy—first just the boot, and then her back (with just the slightest bit of her hip peeking provocatively out from behind her cape!), and then her shoulder and lips in profile, and then finally we see the Temptress revealed!

Very, very nice! 👠.💋

WIP phone sketch because insomnia is a bitch and @setepenre-set’s fics are helpful in the pursuit of mind easement for slumber.

The Inspiration: “For a second, he looks like some sort of dark avenging angel, proud and stern and beautiful…”

Hell yeah, Megamind with wings.

AHHHH I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!

He really does look like a dark avenging angel here; I love the drama and the power in the pose–he looks so strong. The clenched fists and proud shoulders and the half-unfurled wings, like he’s poised to attack if he needs to.

His expression, too, is really excellent–the proudly arched neck and the way he’s looking down his nose, eyebrows drawn sternly together and mouth set. He looks triumphant, and I love it!

I’m glad that my fics are able to help you feel calmer, and I’m so glad you drew this for me; thank you so much! ❤

AU where everything is the same except

A parallel universe co-existing with ours on another dimensional plane. Everything’s duplicated, almost. Another Enterprise. Spock with a beard.

So wouldn’t Megs be the hero and Wayne the villain in this Mirror Mirror ‘verse? Even if they still landed the same. Megamind, (and DS people?) the underdog hero fighting against Wayne Scott and his family’s monopoly over the city. AU America being like a YA dystopia, ruled by rich supers like the Scott family.

^^Oooooh, this is good!

Mirror / Mirror

It’s the Roxannes and the Waynes that get switched.

mirror!Wayne is still cheesy and affable and smiles all the time…he just also sometimes sets people on fire with his laser vision while he’s doing it. Everyone is terrified of him.

mirror!Roxanne works for the Scott family, presenting propaganda to the public. But actually she’s secretly working with Megamind to spy on the Scotts and undermine them from within. She and Megamind are already together romantically in this universe.

The first thing mirror!Megamind does when canon!Roxanne arrives in the Lair is kiss her, and she is…really startled and also A LOT MORE INTO IT THAN SHE WOULD HAVE EXPECTED OH GOD. When he breaks the kiss, she’s so off-balance that she just blurts out,

“You grew a beard?”

The first thing mirror!Roxanne does when she arrives in the Lair is kiss canon!Megamind, and he is SUPREMELY CAUGHT OFF GUARD OH GOD WHAT IS HAPPENING. When she breaks the kiss, she rubs her thumb down the line of his facial hair and murmurs,

“You shaved?”

canon!Wayne is deeply disturbed by the mirror-verse, and by everything he finds out about his mirror-verse self; he ends up working with mirror!Megamind and canon!Roxanne to find his weakness and set up a trap for his mirror counterpart, for them to use after they all switch back.

When everyone returns to their own universes, canon!Wayne is shocked to find that his mirror-verse counterpart wasn’t able to do as much damage to the city as he would have expected–because, of course, canon!Megamind has been preparing for the possibility of Wayne doing something like that for years.

As soon as mirror!Roxanne told him what the Wayne from her universe was like, Megamind rolled out every single one of his Distract-Metro-Man-From-Destroying-Metrocity plans at once, which kept him busy until the switch could be made.

In canon-verse, Wayne has a sobering talk with Megamind and decides to step down as the city’s defender. He just–he has too much power; how can he be sure that he’s using it the right way? There were just too many similarities between the things that his mirror-verse counterpart did and the things that he’s done as the city’s defender.

In mirror-verse, the trap works, and Megamind and Roxanne defeat Metro Man and save the city.

In canon-verse, Roxanne and Megamind are extremely awkward and dance around the whole holy-fuck-our-other-selves-are-dating…thing, without really talking about it, and finally Roxanne turns and starts to walk out of the Lair–

–only to say to hell with it and turn around to kiss him.

When they break the kiss, Megamind is breathless. Roxanne is too, but she has enough breath to tell him,

“I like the goatee better.”

And then she kisses him again.

@setepenre-set so uh, I wanted to wait to respond until after I had seen that episode of Star Trek. I have now and oh my god?? oh my GOD I can’t believe my art inspired fic! This is amazing!!

!!!!!

AAAAHHHH THIS IS GREAT!!

I love the colors you’ve chosen; they look so harmonious together–the dark blue design on his costume contrasts in a lovely way with the deep wine red of her shirt, but since they’re both dark, the contrast is unobtrusive enough to allow us to focus on their expressions.

Their skin, too, contrasts very nicely, but because they’re about equal in brightness, it’s not at all distracting, but just very visually appealing.

Their body positions are so great, too! I love the way Megamind is holding her, gently, but with the confidence that demonstrates he’s done this before with his own Roxanne. He’s leaning in towards her, with his hand cupping her face softly. His eyes are closed and his facial features rather relaxed–he’s clearly enjoying the kiss, but it’s in no way a surprising or unusual occurrence for him.

Roxanne, on the other hand, has her back arched and her elbow pulled back, making it clear that she’s very surprised indeed by this happening. She’s not pushing him away or trying to pull away–she’s caught off-guard, but she’s not angry or disgusted. Her eyes are wide, looking at Megamind, and she’s blushing–a sign that, in spite of her shock, she’s enjoying the kiss more than she would have expected.

Seriously, they look so beautiful, here, and I’m so happy that you saw that Star Trek episode, and liked the ficlet I wrote for your original art piece! Getting another piece of art from you about the same universe is so very exciting! ❤ ❤ ❤

I drew fan art for @setepenre-set’s Megamind fanfic / Mermaid AU Dangerous Currents. I, uh, know it’s a little late but! I didn’t have an account when other people were doing it so it’s now or never. I only had my kindle fire to take pictures so the quality is nonexistent,  but… I tried.

(!!! fanart for me at any time is very welcome!)

(( fic here ))

Ohhhhh this is so entirely gorgeous. The muscles and the collar bones are beautifully drawn, and I love the pose–leaning back like that, with his lovely tail so gracefully curled. It looks so natural, especially with the way his left hand is on the outside of his tail. That detail really emphasizes that the tail is part of his body. And the way the tail blends into his upper body so smoothly emphasizes that as well.

And I really like the way you drew the mark on his chin, the one that looks a bit like his canon goatee but isn’t–the mark, as you’ve drawn it: a narrow line without the outwards flare at the bottom that his canon goatee has–it really does look more like a skin marking here, rather than facial hair!

He’s definitely a freshwater fish; his species is indigenous to the Great Lakes, and the freshwater fin frills are really visually pleasing and fit his body so well! I love how snakelike he looks; it fits in so well with his snakelike appearance and movement in the fic itself. The gills, too, are very natural looking, and that neck frill! ahhh the neck frill! So beautiful!

The whole thing is beautiful, and I absolutely love it! Thank you so much for drawing it for me; it made me really happy! ❤ ❤ ❤

After seeing  this
post
by @setepenre-set I felt inspired 🙂

So, I hereby proudly present Sailor Lightning and Sailor Hearth

!!! AHHH SO CUTE!! :DD

I love the way Roxanne’s sceptre has hand guards, making it look more like a sword than Megamind’s. And the poses of Megamind and Roxanne reflect their personalities really well: Megamind looks so unselfconsciously overdramatic and excited and Roxanne looks more careful and controlled–it reminds me of the way she dances at the end of the movie, with her moves not quite as large and completely confident as Megamind’s are!

(A storyline–so if everyone believes that Sailor Lightning is a villain, then Sailor Heart could originally think that it’s her duty as a hero to oppose Sailor Lightning!)

The Temptress

Original design by @setepenre-set

I liked it so much I had to draw it.

AAAHHH I LOVE IT!!

It’s so cool that you drew her wearing the outfit I designed! I love the hearts swirling around her in the background, like a representation of her powers. And her sassy pose and expression are both great. Her gun looks excellent, too; especially with the light glinting off of it like that!

Thank you so much for this; I really love it a lot!! :DD ❤ ❤ ❤

Everyone was doing such awesome Mermay artwork for @setepenre-set‘s amazing fanfic Dangerous Currents, I had to jump in as well. Top pic is normal and the bottom has a purple filter just to make it look more underwater-y or something. I apologize for the quality since tumblr devoured it.

AAAAHHHH THESE ARE BOTH LOVELY!!

I really can’t decide which of these I like better; I’m glad you posted both of them like this–the upper one shows the bright colors in a really pretty way, while the bottom one gives the scene a mysterious, underwater murkiness that’s also really pleasing.

I love the way you can see just a little bit of the surface of the water at the top of the page–looking up through the surface of the water is actually one of my favorite things about being underwater, and it’s a really good way to visually indicate to the viewer that this is definitely underwater.

And the glowing bioluminescent algae is beautiful, as are the reflections of the water surface on everything. I am also very impressed with the way you’ve drawn the shadows and the beams of light filtering through the water; those also give the viewer the sense of Syx and Minyon not merely floating in nothing, but actually being suspended in water.

Minion looks suitably angry with Syx, who looks the right amount of sassily defensive–I’m impressed with the way you indicated that Syx is the one being scolded. Even though Minyon is smaller and lower in the picture, Minyon’s spread fins and glare, coupled with Syx’s hand on his cocked hip, and the way Syx’s eyebrows are raised even as he’s frowning–an expression of distress and defensiveness, rather than simple annoyance–all of that makes it clear that Minyon is the one doing the scolding, and that he’s Syx’s caretaker, rather than the other way around.

All of the details on Syx’s tail make him look very non-human, as well as delicate–the little frilled fins on his hips and the way the scales taper off into his skin there, looking like jewels. And the tattered edges of his tail and Minyon’s main fin give the piece a sense of danger. And you added some Minyon-like bioluminescent tendrils to Syx’s tail, and some of the little glowing balls that top Minyon’s upper fins to the fins on Syx’s hips! I love that!

I like, too, the way the rocks frame the picture; it gives the figures of Minyon and Syx a sense of being grounded in a physical location–which is a difficult thing when drawing figures underwater!

The rocks framing the figures of Syx and Minyon also works very well as a visual cue indicating how trapped Syx feels–hemmed in on all sides by rock walls, with only the little glimpse of the surface of the water to offer escape–which is exactly what Syx and Minyon are arguing about in this scene in the story!

Thank you so much for these; I really like them a lot, and getting them made me very happy! ❤ ❤ ❤

This semester I had to illustrate a short piece of writing for a design class – so I chose one of my favorite fanfictions – Hearts and their Consumption by @setepenre-set ! Their charming prose really kept me going even when finals were happening and it seemed like I’d be swept away by the amount of work before me.

If you like Howl’s Moving Castle – the book or movie – give their piece a read.

Thanks, setepenre-set!!

These are so very beautiful; I am so very happy that you used my story for your project! And I’m so glad you shared them with me; thank you so much!

These really look like illustrations from a fairytale book–the graceful drama of the poses, the colors you chose, the shape of the pink text boxes! And the watercolor effect! Did you use actual watercolors, or did you get that effect with markers? Either way, I am extremely impressed!

And you picked such good points in the story to illustrate; the illustration points fall in natural intervals throughout the text, and they’re all at important parts in the story.

Oh my GOODNESS, you’ve critiqued my pieces more than my class did! I super appreciate it; it’s always nice to hear the Reasons you did something – sometimes I was just putting things down and subconsciously Meant it, like with the design of the teacup. Before the blue squiggles, the cup felt bare, and after, it felt better – because i was trying to add visual interest and verticality to the piece. But I didn’t do it consciously! I guess that’s what a couple years in an Illustration program does.

I’m so delighted you got everything I intended – the subtle symbolism of color in the hearts, the sharp faeness of Howl, the soft Sophie (because I myself am a soft lady, and love soft ladies as a result, but I also think her hardwearing and determined soul deserves a sturdy body) – I’m really happy all of that’s come through. (Did you notice Howl and Sophie have the same poses in the second and second-to-last pieces? That was deliberate.)

I did use watercolor! It was brushed watercolor and Black Cat India ink in a dip pen. I really like how watercolor handles, but the ink gives a nice definition and crispness.

!!! oooh I hadn’t noticed that they have the same poses in the second and second-to-last pieces! But now that you pointed it out, I totally see it, and it’s really satisfying–they’re the same positions, but they have different feelings behind each of them, as Howl is, even in his very real hunger, posing deliberately, while Sophie is not focused on how she looks at all.

I also like that you included Howl in the second-to-last piece, lying with his head in Sophie’s lap. Since that one is an echo of his pose in the second piece, we get to see how he’s changed–dark hair, dark circles beneath his eyes, unconscious and ill and definitely not posing anymore. The contrast there really gives the audience a sense of how much he’s changed throughout the story!
