What if Lilo and Stitch is both Megs(or if not him then Minion) and Waynes fav movie(what if both Minion and Wayne accidentally watched it when it first came out on theaters at the same time) and when Roxanne finds out its both their favs they have movie marathons with the whole gang every now and then(double date?) I saw the other anon and i can’t let the idea go its too sweet(Lilo and Stitch is my best friends special interest as well while Megamind is mine so I’m really excited rn)

ah, that’s cute!

I really like the idea of it being both Minion and Wayne’s favorite disney movie.

I think Wayne probably does sympathize with Stitch because they’re both so strong that it’s terribly easy for them to be destructive, and considering how I headcanon Lady Scott, I think Wayne probably has fairly strong feelings about family.

(He just doesn’t see how like Megamind Stitch is.)

Minion, of course, has very strong feelings about family/found family–oh, look, I just adopted this destructive overemotional highly-strung blue creature and now it’s mine forever.

Roxanne probably sympathizes with Lilo; they both read as autistic to me, and share some traits–special interests that involve observing and documenting other people (Lilo’s photography, Roxanne’s journalism), flashes of anger and lashing out, and a tendency to try to correct people (Lilo’s “your badness level” graphic for Stitch, and Roxanne’s “these people trusted you and you just abandoned them”, etc.)

The movie might cut a little close for Megamind, but it has a happy ending, so it’s mostly okay for him.

I think Roxanne’s favorite disney movie might be Beauty and the Beast, mostly because of the giving-Belle-a-library thing, although she probably has strong feelings about The Little Mermaid, too, and will tell anyone who listens that she’s pretty sure Ariel would have chosen to become human to pursue her passion for learning about humans even if she hadn’t ever met Eric.

Megamind probably likes Beauty and the Beast, too, although the ending where the Beast becomes human hurts a lot.

I feel like Megamind’s favorite disney movie might actually be Cinderella, which is a story about the endurance of cruelty and unhappiness, of someone lowly rewarded and raised up, a story of trying to be good and finally being good enough.

(Also I think the movie implies Cinderella tries to appear cheerful but struggles with depression– “in dreams you will lose your heartaches; whatever you wish for, you keep” and “no matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing, the dream that you wish will come true.” That song seems romantic and dreamy, but it’s really got a kind of defiant edge to it.)

Idk if you’ve answered something like this before but, what do you think would have happened if Roxanne hadn’t accidentally turned off Megamind’s disguise watch in the restaurant?

I really think that he was working himself up to telling her who he really was and quitting villainy!

His comment to Minion about how Roxanne ‘will never find out’ who he really is–I think that is him trying to deceive Minion, to downplay this whole thing. No, Minion, of course I’m not wearing cologne! No, of course I’m not going on a date with Roxanne! No, of course she’s never going to find out who I really am; this isn’t a big deal!

But it is a big deal.

The novelization of the movie actually implies even more strongly that he’s planning on quitting villainy, and that he wants to tell her who he is. He says, when the two of them are talking about Megamind, “maybe he’s met someone who changed his outlook on things. He might be thinking of hanging up the whole villainy thing altogether.” Not wanting to be the bad guy isn’t something he just blurts out to Minion on the spur of the moment; he’s actually thought about it.

Megamind wasn’t planning on telling Roxanne in the restaurant, of course, but I do think he was planning on telling her–probably after the date, when he took her home.

His question to her about whether or not she’d still like him if he ‘was bald and had the complexion of a popular primary color’–that’s him testing the waters and also maybe him dropping a hint, I think. And maybe Roxanne’s response isn’t entirely encouraging, as she tells him that you should judge people based on their actions, but it’s also not the most discouraging thing ever, either. She doesn’t tell him that his ‘random non-specific example’ sounds ugly or unappealing, and she doesn’t just laugh off the idea.

She says that you should judge people by their actions, and Megamind knows that a lot of his actions haven’t been good, but he’s planning on quitting villainy; he’s made a new superhero; he’s cleaned up the city and returned all the things he’s stolen, and so maybe, maybe–

He’s not lying when he tells Roxanne that he never thought she would actually be with him, but Megamind’s always been willing to attempt impossible things.

Do you think Metro Man could break a brainbot if he tried?

I think Metro Man could break the world if he tried. Or at least come very close.

Metro Man’s powers are terrifying. Megamind knows this, and builds his brainbots accordingly, designing them for optimum safety.

The glass braincases, which contain the organic and cybernetic brains, are as close to indestructible as Megamind can make them, while the limbs and jaws are designed to break off with relative ease. Metro Man can disable the bots relatively easily, so it’s not really worth the extra effort that actually destroying them would require. And the brainbots don’t feel pain. Which is also by design. So Megamind simply goes back after the battles and collects any injured bots, or has some of the other bots do so, takes them back to the Lair, then repairs them.

Which is why Megamind does throw the dynamite at them in the film; he still doesn’t like doing it it, but he knows they won’t be hurt or permanently damaged.

The thing with the bots’ limbs coming off easily is all part of the supervillain smoke and mirrors–Megamind actually does something like that for himself, too: his capes tear away from his mantle easily, so anyone grabbing hold of them during a fight ends up with with a cape and nothing else, and Megamind slips away.

Like with Titan, in the film–Titan is gripping The Black Mamba robes; Megamind needs to get away, so he presses the emergency eject button on the giant robot, which catapults him out of the robot–and Titan is left with nothing but empty robes in his hand.

people who consider themselves “intellectuals” look up to megamind because he is the ‘highests being of intelligence on our planet’, but he always roasts those people over the internet

Definitely! Megamind mispronounces words and his best friend struggles with spelling; that particular kind of smug ‘intellectual’ classism isn’t going to go down with him at all.

It’s interesting to me that, even though Megamind prides himself on his intellect, he never really uses it to make other people feel stupid.

He calls the people of Metrocity ‘mindless drones’, yes, but that seems to be based on them being so obsessed with Metro Man–he calls them ‘softheaded groupies’ first; his real complaint is with their blind worship of Metro Man.

When he thinks Minion doesn’t understand the definition of ‘melancholy’, he doesn’t mock Minion, but just phrases it different for him: “unhappy”.

He does the same thing for Hal, with the word ‘unfathomable’; when he says “you’ve been blessed with unfathomable powers!” and Hal says “what kind of powers?”, he starts to repeat the word ‘unfathomable’, then quickly and seamlessly changes to rephrasing it for Hal instead: “it’s without fathom”. And he does it without acting superior at all.

School Clothes

What if, when he was preparing to go to school, child!Megamind strongly resisted the idea of wearing something other than the orange uniform because he didn’t want to look like a guard? Like, slacks and the button-down shirt? Only guards wear that. That jacket? What am I, a lawyer, a social worker or something? He’s heard that school is actually quite similar to prison, and he doesn’t want to dress different from his peers.

The Warden wants to try harder, but the kid is fixated on the notion, and it’s not like he’ll blend in anyway, and they can’t exactly take him shopping to find something he likes; it was hard enough getting this trial run at normal interactions. T-shirts would be ideal here, but they don’t fit over the kid’s head.

So he goes to school dressed as a convict. Once again, the die is cast.

Building Brainbots

elf-kid2:

We all talk about the Christmas Evil Plans, but… what if most of December and January was dedicated to building brainbots? What if Megamind liked to spend that time expanding his gigantic army of cyborg dog-friends, as many as possible, because of reasons?

And people know that Megamind does fewer attacks in the winter, it’s A Thing, and they mostly assume it’s because of Christmas spirit or cold being bad for him and/or his machines or something, and it’s not like he drops off the map; there are still a few evil plots in the winter….

But it’s mostly building brainbots.

There is an uptick in abandoned pets during the holidays, both from people going on vacation and just…dumping their animals rather than board them, and also from people “”””upgrading”””” from a needy senior pet to a younger model, as well as people who give unwanted pets as gifts. And winter is very hard on street animals, especially newly abandoned ones.

An angsty but good headcanon I think, since brainbots is his way of rescuing ones that wouldn’t make it. A good way to spend the holiday season, helping the helpless, and a good way of handling the grief of losing his people which is more intense for him that time of year.

Way to totally and completely RIP OUT MY HEART GHOST!

replied to your post “do you think megamind could potentially use the defuser gun to take…”

whoa! the discovery really is the height of irony then. also the speculation lead me to google three stranded DNA which was educational. my biology teacher did not tell us it could exist (tbh i wasn’t that interested in DNA replication anyway)

Absolutely the height of irony!

Megamind solves the problem of ‘how to defeat Metro Man’ when he looks at it backwards, and it doesn’t even take him that long, which is another thing I find so ironic!

(it comes down to looking at the problem the right way, just like Roxanne in canon, with her copy of Megamind’s idea cloud.)

And yes, three stranded DNA! I actually came up with the triple strand DNA story-science behind Metro Man’s powers before I knew three stranded DNA was actually possible, too; I looked it up after I came up with the idea, and was surprised and pleased to find that examples of it exist!

do you think megamind could potentially use the defuser gun to take away metro man’s powers, or are they like too ~inherent~?

OKAY SO slight spoilers for various stories, here’s my headcanon about how the Infuser / Defuser gun works:

Metro Man’s powers are contained on a third strand of his DNA; that’s why Megamind was able to give Hal the powers so easily–he simply attached the third strand to the other two strands of Hal’s DNA.

This third strand is only weakly bonded to the rest of the DNA, both in Hal and in Metro Man. The weakness of the bond is an intrinsic quality of this ‘superpowers’ DNA strand; it’s naturally only weakly bonded to the other strands.

(This is most likely due to the fact that it was probably introduced into the DNA of the Glau artificially in the first place.)

Here’s how the Infusion process on the gun works:

Step One: A certain chemical compound, created by Megamind, is introduced into the subject’s system via dermal, mucous membrane, or soft-tissue absorption. (This means that it’ll absorb if you get it on your skin, in your mouth or up your nose like Hal, or if you’re actually shot with the gun and given a flesh wound). The golden infusion bullet Megamind creates in the film is coated in this chemical compound, and the inside of the gun is coated with it, too, so that the subject will definitely be exposed to a sufficient amount of the compound.

Step Two: This chemical compound destabilizes the subject’s DNA just slightly, which allows for

Step Three: The extra strand of DNA attaches itself to the destabilized strands of the subject’s DNA.

Step Four: The newly triple-helix DNA stabilizes.

Here’s how the Defusing process works:

Step One: The gun is fired and the chemical compound is re-introduced into the subject’s system in a spray. This is most likely going to have to be either dermal or through the mucous membrane, since the subject is now invulnerable and flesh wounds are unlikely. It’s going to absorb quicker through the mucous membrane, which is why Megamind sticking the gun in Hal’s nose was the right choice.

Step Two: The chemical compound again destabilizes the subject’s DNA allowing for

Step Three: The extra DNA strand is targeted by the gun and extracted from the subject’s system as it is drawn into the gun.

Step Four: The subject’s newly double-helix DNA stabilizes.

Megamind could temporarily take away Metro Man’s powers simply by exposing him to the destabilizing compound–since the strand with the powers is only weakly attached to the rest of the DNA, it breaks off easily, and just sort of floats around in the subject’s system.

If Megamind didn’t extract the ‘superpowers’ DNA strand from his system during the time of DNA destabilization, Metro Man’s powers would naturally return after a while, as the ‘superpowers’ DNA strand reattached itself to the rest of the DNA. But if Megamind did extract them, they would be gone permanently.

The destabilizing compound is also useful in fuel, and in explosive devices, as it naturally destroys chemical bonds, which creates energy. When the compound is added to certain other chemicals, it causes an explosive reaction.

Which was probably how Megamind originally used the destabilizing compound; the idea of using it in the Infuser / Defuser gun came later.

So, yes, Megamind actually did come up with a way to defeat Metro Man, but he did it while he was trying to solve a completely different problem.

Megamind holds the patents to a line of very high-quality prosthetic limbs.

elf-kid2:

It’s through a shell-company, of course. Under a false name.  It can’t be traced back to a super villain. Nobody’s caught on. He makes a good profit from these, and of course, because it adds authenticity to the official company and helps build a good reputation firmly separate from that of Megamind, a descent portion of those profits go to related charity programs.

They’re all very high-quality, designed to be comfortable, long-lasting, and to allow the wearer the full range of movement needed to pursue and active lifestyle. One can even  dance. Or do gymnastics. There are some very nice promotional videos/recovery stories out there, about these prosthetic limbs. The limbs are fashion-forward, to: they come in a variety of ‘natural’ skin tones, for discretion, as well as several fun and pleasing artistic Aesthetics. It’s hard to find anything better than this, if you’re in the market for a new limb.

(You would have to work very hard, have a lot of cash on hand, and know someone who knows someone to even get a price-sheet on the ones with built-in weapons.)

Megamind works with large, dangerous machinery on a regular basis. He’s involved in more wrecks and explosions than is preferable. He has an enemy with super-strength and laser-eyes.

Megamind has multiple prosthetics in storage, just in case. Robotic arms and legs, hands and feet, above the joint, below the joint… all made to fit his own measurements and requirements perfectly. Some are designed to fit under his costume, discreet and seamless, so you’d never know they were there. Some are made with extra spikes, with rockets in the feet, with gauntlets and electricity. A few are plain, unadorned metal like one might see on a brain-bot.

Minion knows about these, of course. He helped design some of them. he keeps theme in sterile storage, near the medical area. He understands the necessity, of course. He approves. It’s just… he doesn’t like to look at them. It’s to macabre. It reminds him too much of the dangers of their profession.

Megamind holds the patents of a line of very high-quality prosthetic limbs.
