So, Megamind is the mysterious blue sorcerer-type of who lives in the dungeon of the castle of the Dark Forest. No one is sure what he is, exactly (There is no one else like him, not in the Dark Forest or the Fairy Kingdom or anywhere else…), but his skills in magic/alchemy/science are undeniable. His potions and creations of magical mischief are famous (or infamous), as is the chaos that was unleashed in the handful of occasions when he managed to escape.
Minion is more goblin-ish in appearance than Megamind. He has a much easier time blending in with the crowd than Megamind does, but some aspects of the robo-suit are still present. (I’m thinking robo-limbs, or an mobility-device of some kind, but I’m flexible. Do what you will.)
Hal is a knight of the Fairy Kingdom: one of the less competent ones. He’s been assigned to guard the recently-appointed ambassador. Despite his best efforts, the beautiful Roxanne Ritchi refuses to be wooed by his protectiveness, his (ill-fitting) armor, or his sweet-talk. He plans on going to the sorcerer who lives in the Dark Forest dungeon to acquire (read: steal, beg, borrow, or buy) a love-potion. Failing that, he’d like something to make himself stronger, faster, and better-looking. Both would be ideal, but what are the chances?
Roxanne Ritchi is a citizen of the Fairy Kingdom. She has some interest in intercultural studies, and due to her excellent qualifications, has recently been appointed as Ambassador to the Dark Forest. (It has been a while since the Fairy Kingdom sent an ambassador to the Dark Forest; hopefully, this will turn out much better than last time.) Unfortunately, her diplomatic visit has barely begun when a certain blue sorcerer escapes from the dungeon and takes over the kingdom! …And the new Evil Overlord of the Dark Forest is not keen on letting the Fairy Kingdom’s diplomatic party leave just yet.
Metro Man is the Crown Prince of the Fairy Kingdom. He is known for his heroism, and good looks, and is universally adored by the populace. Lately, his parents have been pressuring him to start taking on more responsibilities in preparation for the day when he takes the crown. For example, it’s about time he got married: a woman of the Fairy Court, preferably of respectable rank and position, to continue the royal bloodline…. (Secretly, he feels like he’s being crushed by the weight of responsibility. Secretly, he would like to run away to pursue his music, go on the road and become a bard or join a band of traveling players...) When the Fairy Kingdom’s ambassador is captured by the new Overlord of the Dark Forest, he is expected to lead the rescue-mission.
An Evil Overlord, Damsel in Distress, Handsome Prince, Evil Minion, Knight in Shining Armor… and somewhere in the mix, there are some very dangerous magical potions.
This is Natalya Kopylova, the head of the Samara club of Slavic cultures “Vesta”. What she is doing is usually called “фланкировка” in Russian, which, I think, would be translated as flourish or twirling here. It’s a traditional Cossack entertainment, demonstration of dexterity and ability to handle weapon. In the comments to the video on YouTube it was pointed that Natalya wears traditional Orenburg Cossack dress and twirls traditional Cossack weapons shashkas (шашки).
