You may recall me talking about how I was working on a script for a musical theatre version of Megamind.
I am VERY PLEASED to announce that the script is COMPLETE and that it is going to be UNVEILED at Mega Camp, where we will be doing a READING of it!! The reading is happening Sunday night at 7:30pm!
Now, in order to make the reading as enjoyable as possible, I need your help!
During the reading, I need volunteers to help by playing the parts. A script reading is much more informal than an actual performance, so there’s no need to be nervous; the emphasis here is on having fun. It’s going to be more like a game rather than a show.
Each participant will get a script, and they will read their lines from the script during the reading as they act out their parts. So there’s no need to worry about memorization. The songs, too, are very simple; I wrote them so that they are easy to sing.
There are lots of parts–all of the characters from canon, plus some characters from the Doom Syndicate: Hot Flash, Lady Doppler, Psycho Delic, and Destruction Worker. Not to mention the brainbots and the random citizens!
I’m going to post all of the songs, so that you all can hear them ahead of time–everyone is invited to sing along with the chorus parts.
Again, do not feel worried about having any experience with acting, or about whether you’re “good” at singing–this is all about having fun! And if you’re shy, there is always a place for you as a citizen or in the brainbot swarm!
I’m going to be playing Megamind, but all of the other parts are open.

So I just watched the newest season of Voltron, and no spoilers, but there was one very memorable episode that made use of a holographic gameboard, and for whatever reason, I thought of hardlight projection. And then I thought about Imperial Entanglements.
So I just wanted to bring to your attention the fact that Megamind would absofuckinglutely design engineer and build the largest damn immersive LARPing stage known to Roxannekind, complete with interactive AI holograms, hardlight projection outfits and props, and fantastic and unexpected pyrotechnics.
Also, he’d be the DM to end all DMs. The DM out to get you. The DM with the stupidest most amazingest most convolutedest plots.
Roxanne and Minion would absolutely rope Metro Man into playing when they need a third person for their campaign.

A world in which Roxanne is a superhero or a supervillain herself, and Megamind is a hero, or a villain, or the damsel in distress! With the holograms designed to display Roxanne’s ‘powers’ when she stands or moves her hands in a certain way!

He really does look like a dark avenging angel here; I love the drama and the power in the pose–he looks so strong. The clenched fists and proud shoulders and the half-unfurled wings, like he’s poised to attack if he needs to.
His expression, too, is really excellent–the proudly arched neck and the way he’s looking down his nose, eyebrows drawn sternly together and mouth set. He looks triumphant, and I love it!

The mandarinfish is a small, brightly colored member of the dragonet family, which is popular in the saltwater aquarium trade. The mandarinfish is native to the Pacific, ranging approximately from the Ryukyu Islands south to Australia. To date, S. splendidus is one of only two vertebrate species known to have blue colouring because of cellular pigment. Mandarinfish are reef dwellers, preferring sheltered lagoons and inshore reefs. While they are slow-moving and fairly common within their range,
they are not easily seen due to their bottom-feeding habit and their
small size (reaching only about 6 cm). They feed primarily on small crustaceans and other invertebrates.
This is the other species of vertebrate with blue cellular pigment, the Picturesque Dragonet! (They’re very closely related to Mandarinfish). If you want to know more about why any animal not one of these fish only appears to be blue, here’s a great article!
